Millet's painting, entitled "The Sower" (1850) was immensely popular and Millet, himself, made more than one version of it. Vincent Van Gogh, apparently, had great respect for it also, and made several paintings and drawings using this motif. He of course added his own passion to it (during the period 1883 to 1889). In fact, he produced a range of works literally "from the sublime to the ridiculous". My painting is an homage to both artists. The viewer may decide where my tribute to both painters falls within that very large range.
